Nowt More 'Til Saturday, Like

One of those days today. Blue-arsed flies have been trailing in my wake. Beer is calling me, calling me... oh stop it, still 24 minutes to go...

Enjoy Friday :)

Leakio Writes!

I suppose it would be more accurate to say "has written", but that would produce a rather eccentric title. Or perhaps not - I may well need to edit this tomorrow (curse that beer, why don't you)...

Anyway, the remarkable Mr Keogh-Ly has got another of his tales available and this one's getting fine reviews so I'm more than happy to plug it. Go here and grab a copy. You won't be disappointed, I'm prepared to wager.

I'm making progress with the Flickr project, though the process is a little long-winded as I'm having to shrink all of the images before posting them [1]. So far all I've got done is last year's Community Shield: the picture shown is rather a nice one of the stadium with L'Homme Franglais reading his (idiotically expensive) programme.

Loads more on the way, if you want a copy of any of them then let me know and I'll mail you the full-sized original.

[1] Before any bright spark says "why don't you script this" I guess I should point out that I'm also cropping the things to produce rather better framed images than my usual point-and-hope photography skills tend to come up with on their own.

Juventus - Full Time

Oh yes! What a result, and a great performance to boot. AH13 is really starting to fullfil the promise he'd shown before he got injured and MF16 is starting to make me wonder whether a book of first-class stamps wouldn't be an acceptable fee for want-away AC3.

Great performance all round! Intesting to see the post-match interviews - TH14 was his usual eloquent self, but doesn't FF15 speak awesomely good English?

I could enthuse for hours, so I won't (there's beer in the fridge).

Best result in Europe since the Fairs Cup Final in the last century? Quite possibly, in my book. A smile is already in place for tomorrow, may you all you have a really fine day!

Well done you Gunners!

Juventus - 68:24

2-0 to the Arsenal! TH14! Keep it up you Gunners!

Juventus - Half-Time

1-0 to the Arsenal! Not a good day to have run out of Prozac, am opening another beer. I've run out of things to cross. Come on you Gunners!

Juventus - Early Stuff & More! Gosh!

AW was on the box earlier and says that SC23, who had been "in his plans", and FL8 are both out of contention tomorrow. Not the end of the world, by any means. It'll be interesting to see whether Saturday's enforced day's rest is a good or a bad thing, certainly AW isn't gloating about the unexpected day off, but then that is his way. I'm just crossing my fingers...

Flickr project is coming on nicely, full details once it's finished. BTW, if any of the GG squad has got 2003 Final piccies I'd like copies as I appear to have lost mine. Backup's for wimps, yes?

Shame about tonight's result, but at least the Baggies gave it a shot (and me a few minutes dreaming).

Nice to see PV4 getting the (very fine) reception he deserves on his return on the news tonight. Would also be fine to see FF15 play him off the park tomorrow. We shall see.

Bedtime again. Gosh, it comes round fast! I think I may be/be getting old...

Start The Week With A Smile :) Frowning Comes Later...

It's raining, of course. Amusingly, the postponement of the Portsmouth game coincided with the start of Southern Water's hosepipe ban. Hmmm...

Quite quiet on the desk today; this evening's project (apart from watching to see if West Brom can manage to do us a favour and chalk up a highly unlikely victory at WHL) is to get some of the old Geoff's Gooners pictures up onto Flickr. More on this when I've got it done.

Oh, Is It Raining?

Pathetic. Yesterday's fixture at Portsmouth postponed - which could well come back to bite us - because of a bit of rain. This is England, it's always raining and that a Premiership club can't deal with it is truly abysmal. Arseblog's Blogger reckons a points deduction is in order and I have to say I agree. I'd also like to see points deductions for failure to maintain a decent playing surface in general - Chelski please take note.

Curry for lunch, yummy. A couple of beers this evening and an early night, methinks. Work tomorrow. Oh joy.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear

The Silkster and I have just returned from watching "Three". I'm not sure if this is really the worst film I've ever seen, but it's certainly in my top two. If you like Kelly Brook you'll at least find something to ogle at but otherwise, well, it's absolutely terrible - lousy plot, lousy acting and very dull. Best overhead apres-film comment: "I'll bet Billy Zane said this is the film to revive his career". Understanding the true humour of this remark is the only reason for watching this abomination, IMHO.

Tin of beer then bed for me. Enjoy your weekend :)

It's Friday At Last

It seems to have been an awfully long week! The Leader bought us breakfast this morning - Egg & Bacon sarnies for most, Cheesburger for me - from the somewhat eccentric Snack Attack van thing in Focus car park. Not bad at all, I have to say, a very nice start to the day. If I get round to it over the weekend I'll take some piccies of Snack Attack and post them with a review on Matt's Diner.

Not a lot of other news today, though JR9 should be back for the Portsmouth game. More anon.

Media PC Stuff

A bit of geekiness for a welcome change from my usual moaning... Brainiac has sent me a write-up of his recent Media PC build. Well worth a read if you're looking at embarking on this sort of project - he covers a number of issues which you will seriously wish you'd thought about before you start if, like me, you didn't think about them. Read it here.

I'll write up my considerably less successful efforts as soon as time allows. My thoughts to date are, as Brainiac mentions, that the iMon software trounces MCE in just about every department. It's the product MCE tries to be, but isn't. Shame the remote isn't quite as pretty as the Microsoft one, but that's hardly a huge price to pay.

Once I've written up the MCE experience I'll rebuild the box as a Linux/Freevo effort, which I've got high hopes for.

Time For Spring, Methinks

It's going to be one of those days, I fear. Time seems to have stood still and the latest lasts-a-month cold bug has decimated the ranks here so it's looking like a long one. This wretched bug seems to be everywhere atm, it's certainly making the punters friskier than usual.

Looks like the media centre stuff will have to wait 'til tomorrow. Very little news on the footie front this morning: perhaps the journos have colds too as they haven't even bothered to make anything up worthy of note.

Concerning A Word From Our Sponsors

Anyone else finding the ads a little way down the right-hand sidebar are a little browser fussy? If you're finding them so then I'd be grateful if you'd leave a comment detailing the ad concerned, your OS, browser, details of the problem, etc. and I'll pass them on.

UPDATE: The problematic ones would appear to be part of a pretty small minority, nonetheless if you have difficulties please let me know. Cheers.

Ho Hum, Ho Hum...

And it's back to work for me. Never mind, I'm sure the punters will do their very best to keep me entertained. Or not.

Still, shouldn't grumble after yesterday's most amusing Upper Battersea derby. Will JM get the FA lambasting he's been due for a while? Frankly I rather doubt it but at the look on his face when that "goal" was disallowed will have me smiling for a while anyway.

A slightly more useful/geeky post is on the way soon with an update on the media PC project. Worth casting a beady eye over if you're thinking of going that way.

I've Done Guinness, Thanks...

Cracking St Patrick's Day, way too much to drink, good result for us on Saturday and a fine result for the Irish, too, in the oversized-odd-shaped-ball game. Prepare for the new week with a smile on your face, you know it makes sense :)

NOTW: Arsenal want big bids for TH14 if he chooses to leave in the summer. No Shit Sherlock. Will be sending my CV, along with 4 crisp packets, to the NOTW in the expectation of getting a job. My first exclusive: "Tony Blair is a Twat". Rocket Science: my speciality.

PS: If you want a picture of The Boss in a silly Guinness hat, drop me a line.

Show Us Your Beaver

Happy birthday Tony!

But tell: how do you burn gravy?

Late Up Today

Well I really can't see any point in wasting valuable sleep time when I'm on holiday... however now have to rush about like a blue-arsed fly to catch up... off to buy dog food, amongst other things. With any luck my Mad Jens shirt will have arrived at work so may pop in there, too. Chelsea to sign AC3 say The Sun. Hmmm...
